Gymnastics Showcase

Yesterday afternoon was Nature Girl's first "Spring Meet" in gymnastics. I use quotes because it was more like a showcase of what the girls have learned over the course of about 6 years (at least in Nature Girl's case.) It was great to watch all of those young ladies get up and smile to the audience and then perform on bars, beam and floor. They had a routine for each event. The coach was there to help remind them what came next and also be a spotter. The girls were so excited. I know Nature Girl was. This is right up her alley. It looks like she like playing to the crowd! But, not in a real showy way just in a kind of humble way. She would smile and giggle but kind of demurely. She did not lack an ounce of confidence. Which, to me, is so great! I have always struggled with any type of speaking or performing in front of an audience. Daddy and Sissy were there also to cheer her on. There were 4 other girls in Nature Girl's class that she has known for along time, since they were 3! So that was cool to see them develop their skills as well. Yesterday afternoon was also the day they found out if they were moved up to a higher skill level class. One of Nature Girl's coaches pulled me aside and recommended she take a preteam prep class and work on her flexibility and strength over the summer. She would test her again after summer classes and to see if she is ready for "the team." I was so excited for her! Her coach says Nature Girl wants it real bad. So, we will sign her up for the summer (which we do anyway), add the preteam prep class and work on her strength and flexibility. I have explained to her the coaches can help with skill but she is on her own to work on the flexibility and strength. So we shall see. Little Mama had her regular class yesterday. I asked her if she wanted to skip class to watch Nature Girl but she said no ;) She also got her end of the semester evaluation and she has moved up to a pre competitive class as well. She is now a Flipper! She is very flexible and a great student according to her coaches. She is one of the smallest and youngest in her class. But the coaches love her can do, positive, happy personality. If the summer goes well for her, I will talk with her coaches about a preteam class for the fall. Boop got his preschool evaluation and will be in Navigators over the summer. He loves his class. As I have mentioned, he is all boy. Daddy would prefer he do T-ball so we do the tumbling just to give him something to do. Until he is old enough to play ball. Great job kids. We are very proud of all of you . . .

HOW EXCITING!! Wish we could have been there to cheer her on! And it sounds like Little Mama & Boop are not far behind. So much talent in your family!
