The Faith of a Family

Yesterday afternoon we went to visit one of Little Mama's friends. We had gone there to drop off some gifts for the young girl, Faith. She had been in the hospital two days prior to our visit. During the visit her mom had shared a little bit more about the accident that put her little girl in the hospital. I asked her if I could share their story on my blog and the following post is the story of this little girl Faith and her faithful family. This past Sunday Faith and her older sister Grace were swinging on their wooden swing set in their backyard. The unthinkable and unimaginable happened. The wooden swing set they had been swinging on collapsed with the cross beam falling on top of the little girl Faith's head. Grace stared at her sister with the heavy beam across her head thinking she was dead. Grace (a 8 year old) lifted the beam from her sister and immediately screamed for her mom. Mom was out there within seconds. Faith was taken to the hospital and had 2 CT scans done one in the ER and the other one in the pediatric intensive care unit. And I am sure numerous other tests as well. They found two hair line fractures. One right underneath her left eye. Faith's face was black and blue and her left eye swollen shut. After being in the hospital from Sunday to Wednesday for observation, she was allowed to go home. The doctors had given the mom a list of things to look for that might lead to complications and a list of phone calls and follow up appointments to make. But yesterday when we visited with Faith she was laughing and giggling with Little Mama. Her mom had to remind her not to run and to watch where she was going! Except for the visible bruising and swollen eye this girl was in the best of spirits. God's blessing No. 1. But that is not where the story ends. A day or two later as the whole story from Grace unfolded, the presence of God at that time was undeniable. Grace told how she was able to lift that cross beam from her sister's body and that it was "as light as a feather." On the day before the accident, it had taken 2 women and 1 man to move that beam! As the mom has said, "You hear about children calling 911. Yes, those are children are heroes. But Grace did what she needed to do right then and there and then called for help." God was there! The family has been through a very traumatic experience and are very willing to share their story. They want everyone to know how God was with their Faith and their Grace. To God be the glory. . .

What an incredible story and HAPPY ENDING! Such a tremendous example for the kids (and ALL of us) that no matter what happens, God is with us. AMEN! I'm so thankful Faith is okay and I know she loved having NG come for a visit.
