How Does Your Garden Grow?

The Garden

Tomatoes

Lettuce

Potatoes

Watermelon

Last night we had a salad made from our own lettuce! It was really pretty cool. The kids thought so too. We actually had planted it last year and it just came up this year all on its own. I guess that is how it grows. Our neighbor said we just had a few days to "harvest" it so that is what daddy did when he got home. So we had fresh salad with chicken, tomatoes, cheese, croutons and bacon bits. I am not exactly sure what kind of lettuce it is. I am going to look it up. I know some lettuce has no nutritional value like Iceberg. But Romain is really nutritious. We have one more head that will be ready soon. In the past we have grown green beans, peppers, peas, carrots and pumpkins. Except for the green peppers we haven't had much success with the rest. This year we are growing tomatoes, watermelon, potatoes and possibly an apple tree. We will see how much luck we have with those . . .

Someday I want a garden too. In the meantime, I just have to visit the farmer's market.

p.s. we're having hot dogs and beans for supper tonight too :)
